Focus on: Supervision

Johannesburg 10 & 11 July 2014

“Productivity of the workforce is the responsibility of the supervisor”

The supervisor is the productivity link between management and the workforce. The productivity “buck” stops with the supervisor.

The supervisor is not there to “beat up” people, be their buddy, or do their work for them, but rather to create a strong “productivity culture” within the work force. So the supervisor has to maintain strong team qualities, hold people accountable for their jobs, and make sure that the required productivity targets are met. This can only happen through discipline, control and proactive supervision..

This course focuses on equipping supervisors for managing the workforce into meeting the productivity requirements of the company.

On this workshop you will learn:

1. Know your people: Only then can you relate appropriately to your subordinates
2. Manage the work environment: People excel in an enjoyable, healthy environment
3. Create a productivity culture within the work force: Productivity is enjoyable. Lack of productivity isn’t
4. Manage work flow: Get the job done with minimum hassle, in minimum time
5. Manage and monitor individual productivity: Establish individual responsibilities and ensure that they are met
6. Create work plans that meet company productivity targets: Without this, you are flying blind
7. Delegate for results: Know what to delegate, why, when and to whom
8. Keep the work force motivated: Motivating people runs deeper than money, incentives or sharing a burger
9. Practice discipline: Even the best workers excel within clear, steadfast parameters
10. Deal with conflict: As it happens, when it happens.
11. Get things done: As opposed to doing it yourself.
